Twitter Sets Display Name To 50 Characters

Just a few days after Twitter doubled tweet character limit, the popular social network now allows users to expand their display names to up to 50 characters—including emojis.

This is great news for all those who have longer names or want to add certain flourishes to their names.

As against the former 20 character limit, Twitter display name can now contain 50 characters.

On November 7, Twitter finally rolled out a 280 character limit for tweets—for all users. Now, the increased display name character limit. All these prove that the company is well deviating from its core tradition of keeping things short, and they got a series of accolades and backlashes for these new updates.

Announcing the change late Thursday, Twiiter said,
"Starting today, your display name can be up to 50 characters in length! Go ahead, add that middle name or even a few more emojis."

Meanwhile, your username—the handle beginning with "@" that other people use to mention you—can also be changed, but it still has 15 characters limit.
